I would like to know if I do a closed loop for water turn over do I still need power heads. I don't like the look of them and I am thinking about upgrading my mag 24 to a hy2600. this will move more water thru the length of pvc ( about 10 ft ) than my mag 24. If I do thisI will have the mag 24, thinking that I would drill a couple holes and make a closed loop. Will this be enough water movement in the tank. The tank is 150 gallons. The reason I am not sure is because the closed loop will be on the back of the tank and I have about 150 lbs of rock scaping. I still have some finish wood work to do and of course add many corals, I only have a few mushrooms right now.

Yes you can do it without power heads.

I saw a nice setup where a complete loop was made of PVC tubing and a bunch of linelocs were put in. 8? This allowed flow to be directed almost anywhere easily and with only the lineloc nozzles in the water.

Sorry I can find it... I do this forum and another. The other is not a nurturing place infested with some bad fish. I would've guessed it was there but extensive searching didn't turn it up.

It was really just as described. A rectangular closed loop fed by a single line from a pump. The rectangle just barley fit inside the tank at the very top.

You'd have to assess whether it would work or not in your setup.

If you go to Reef Central and do a search for "closed loop" you'll findtons of results. I'm looking at upgrading my RR 55 to a standard 75. If I do, I'm going to drill my own overflows in the back as well as some holes for a closed loops system. I hate powerheads.
