I just started a planted tank about two weeks ago and some of the plants are looking terriable. They are either yellow, brown or transperant. Plants that are doing badly are dwarf Sagiteria money wort, and an unknown plant. The amazon sword , micro sword and others look fine. I have a 10g with 3wpg. Any ideas?

Besides the light, are you adding any "plantfood"?
What fish do you have?
Do you know the pH, KH?

At 3wpg, my first guess without more info is that your lights are too strong for those plants. Typically, those plants do better at lower levels, about 1.5 wpg. You might need to go shopping for plants that need lots of light as 3wpg is considered pretty high!
Good luck,

What about the addition of CO2 when having higher than 'normal' tank lights? Your 3 watts per gallon is high...
How many lights, and what kind of lights are you running?

I had that problem of rotting plants too, bought a new double 80 watt light and some fertilizer and now I have a jungle.
whenever i introduce a new plant to my tank it seems to go through an adjustment period in which it seems to lose leaves or "melt" a bit, but after a week it takes off.

An amazon sword for a 10g tank is WAY too big. I had them growing out the top of my 24" tall tank. They are beasts.
