I was gonna say.. how did you score that? Awesome fish! They are $150 at my LFS.. and notorious jumpers. Watched my LFS lose 2 in their 400G reef because of jumping. No matter how much to try and secure the tank they seem to find a way out.

thanks guys and ace to answer your question.....

heres how I secured my tank....

1. while the jawfish was acclimating to his new tank water I rearranged the whole tank to suit his needs better..remember they are VERY VERY skittish and will hide and jump if threatened.

2. Now for the "hood" I grabbed some window screening material from lowes (I think it was 10 dollars for like 40 feet!) then I went to petco and got I think they are called cage clips? they are really for a reptile cage so they can't open the screen top...well I cut the mesh to fit the top of the tank and put the clips on..so far so good ~knocks on wood~

3. GO TO ANY aquatic gathering that has a raffle..I managed to snag this guy for a grand total of 75 dollars...

20 dollars in raffle tickets
10 dolars on food
45 on gas

Edit: and 150?!?!?! try like 200+ IF they even can get them. I know a few that simply laugh when you ask to get them one.

Dang, where do you live that they cost $200 and are hard to get? Near Los Angeles where the wholesalers are I can pick one up twice a week for around $75 wholesale cost.. usual markup in the LFS industry is 100% on live goods, so my LFS charges $150 for them and can get one within a week of asking. My LFS actually got a deal on theirs, they were on sale for $40ea and they grabbed two at the time.. unfortunately both jumped.

Still a awesome fish and a good deal on it, can't deny that. :)

good ole connecticut...200 is usually the price give or take a few dollars and from what I gather they are hard shippers? I'm not exactly sure but the price has kept me FAR away from them lol
