Howdy. I had a peacock eel that I really liked. Unfotunately when I got a new tank and added cichlids, they drove him to an early grave. I'm considering a differnt kind of eel, that can defend himself (maybe freshwater Morray?).

Anywho, there seems to be much controversy on the topic of fresh water versus marine versus brackish. Anyone have any experience with eels? And maybe eels and more aggresive fish like cichlids.

I may end up going with a pleco as a friend suggested, but I really liked the way the peacock eel moved through the water.

Thanks

I honestly wouldn't mix Eels and Cichlids. They are just way too different and Cichlids are just way too mean. I honestly wouldn't do another one if they have already killed one. Just my opinion but that is the most logical decision. Not quite sure what you mean by freshwater vs brackish vs saltwater. The main controversial eel is the Freshwater Snowflake Eel. All others have their own preffered water conditions. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.
