If I am planning a 20L that will have some type of sword how many pounds of Eco-Complete would I need. Standard 20L from Petco:)

This is a 20 gallon long? Two 20 pound bags would give you close to 2 and a half inches of substrate. One bag would not be enough for serious planting.

Thanks for the link:) So what is better eco-complete or flourite? I know it is a matter of opinion so let's hear some opinions.

I like Flourite personally. I think my next go will be with the flourite sand in my next tank. But almost any substrate works for growing plants with, just pick out what you like.

If you like that look, Flourite does come in a black sand now. Thats why I'm going with that, cause I like the black moon sand look too.

I want the plants to be the focal of this tank-sorta- so i want something that is formulated for the plants. The flourite sand sounds good I will do some checking:)

Yeah, Moonsand is vastly overpriced considering it is no better than play sand for growing plants. Can't go wrong with Flourite or Eco. I prefer the look of Eco and like that you do not have to rinse it before adding to the tank. Pretty big plus.
By the way I use Floramax, another plant substrate, in my 40 gallon. It is made by the same company (Caribsea) that markets Ecocomplete. I do not recommend it however. It is messy, requires extensive rinsing, and is too coarse.
