The past few days my pair of angels have been pretty heavily lip locking. They have spawned twice, and are in a tank on there own. They have lip locked a couple times, but not this bad. So now they both have nice white beaten up looking mouths.

I know this is normal, just wanted to know the best way to treat them, guessing clean water and it should heal up pretty quickly (as long as they stop sucking face long enough for it to heal).

Thanks.

Water changes are your best friend right now. A treatment with mela/prima fix can't hurt either.

Are angel pairs usually this aggressive to one another? I woke up yesterday morning to find the female with a big chunk missing out of her pectoral fin and about half of one of her ventral fins missing. I am carrying out daily water changes, and her mouth is starting to look better, just a little shocked to see how much damage the male is causing her.

The odd thing is when they were in the community tank, the male was very passive (even towards the 3rd angel) and the female would often come between the male and the 3rd angel. The male would usually just shy away from any conflict. I did notice though that the last time they spawned the male was very protective, if I came near the tank he would zoom right to the front in an aggressive stance.

well in the community tank there were other fish to turn their agression towards. You might need some dither fish for them to bond better, depending on the tank size of course. Also now that they have their own tank, it's probably smaller and that in itself might cause issues. But yeah lack of other fish can do that sometimes.

Usually it's my female that is more aggressive towards the male, she is always beating him up and he is the one that always ends up with the battered mouth. I guess what they say, all fish are different, is true.
