Okay, I have a 20L, single bulb hood, 24in flourescent bulb.

What are my options for a planted tank??

I have no experience with planted tanks but i'm thinking about adding plants.

I would mod the hood. Make it hold 4 cfl (spiral bulbs) daylight bulbs. 4x15watts would give you 3 wpg.

more light would help but you should still should be able to grow moss java ferns and anubias.

The hood mod looks like a good option, inexpensive and looks fairly easy.

How about plant nutrients? Do I need to buy special chemicals or substrates?
