I only got about 30 seconds to take pictures before he darted back into his cave he found under a piece of driftwood, so that's why they're kind of blurry.

I only see these guys at the LFS once every couple of weeks, so now that I had space, I decided why not? He's currently eating a piece of blanched Zuchini. These guys are stronger than I thought they are, he nearly tore himself free of the net at the LFS.

What do you think, male or female?

As far as i know only males have bristles... so i would assume that.

Unless i got the species wrong.

My bristlenose is only about 2" long and just starting to get bristles, i figured one around that size with mm long bristles is probably a male and since they have doubled in length in two weeks i think i was right.

That's what I assumed too, but I remember reading somewhere that only males have forked bristles.

It's just Washed playsand, you can get it at any other store. It kinda looks like river sand, because they're only small round particles.

DD is right...nice substrate...
