Where to start?

2 Days ago I finally set up my 55 gallon tank and moved the contents of my 10 gallon (7 long fin danios and 3 ottos) to the new 55 gallon (with 1 filter from the 10 since I had 2 filters running on it anyway). Anywho, after pulling everything out of the tank to get the danios (who are faster than god almighty) I didn't really pay much attention to the tank.

Anyway, yesterday, I was looking at my empty 10 gallon and noticed I have some baby MTS (woot..will do great in my 55 gallon with sand, but they are still so small I am afraid to grab them at the moment). I also noticed i have some nematodes (little white worms...GROSS). Not worried about them. After staring at the tank for awhile I actually noticed that I have about 30-40 baby fish stuck to my glass as well :perv: Since they are sticking to the glass I am assuming they are ottos. I definitly know they are NOT planaria because i caught one swimming earlier today and it didn't undulate or anything that would make me think it is a worm or parasite, so the only fish it could be are the danios or the ottos. I am assuming danios would be more free swimming and not stuck to my glass like that (I notice a stripe down them as well, black in color) so I am assuming they are otos.

What am I to do? I am really afraid to clean the tank because these babies are really little 1/4 an inch or so.

Hints? Suggestions (I cant do pics, no camera (boo).

I would do put a sponge/cover on your filter intake, and do a water change. I wouldn't worry about doing a gravel vac unless you do it with a piece of airline tube. As long as you do it slow and carefully you should be able to clean the tank. The fact that they are 1/4 already means they have been finding food, congrats again. I would leave the tank the way it is and make sure they get food.

Thank for the advice, I will try to find a way to cover up the intake so the little fry dont get sucked in. Problem is, with the nematodes, I REALLY do need to do a serious gravel vac in there (I was overfeeding, totally my fault on that one). I may just try to net some of the extraneous things as I dont want to hurt any of the baby snails or fish and do a very slow gravel vac with some tubing.
