How long do cherry shrimp live? what about the crystals and ghosts?

Also what does everyone do with the shrimp dead skins? I've read that a shrimp will eventually eat the casing as it provides calcium, but boy do they look creeping and sit around forever. I thought about sucking them out, and yes I'm sure they're not dead shrimp lol.

i think average life span is around 18 months, temp and parameters can effect this. I leave the shrimp molts unless i accidentally suck them up during a vac.
 
I have heard anywhere up to 2 years for RCS, 18 months is probably a good average. I have 4 Amanos in my 75 that have been there for a little over 2 years. The molts I have bronzed and keep them on my mantle.( insert Pinochio smilie here, as being computer illiterate I have yet to be able to figure out how to do it)
 
i agree with jinkz. just leave them in there they will soon get eaten.
