last week i picked up a male/female pair of "orange flash" a. cacatuoides. ive been watching them alot as they are really pretty fish and yesterday they started acting a bit differant. the female coloring turned from a grayish color to an almost neon yellow. the male got a bit... grumpier? he follows her around and seems to rush at her but i dont think hes nipping or trying to do damage as all of her fins look ok. he gets even more fiesty after a meal of blood worms when he puffs up all his fins real big and chases the female all over the place.

so the question is... is the male a bully or is he trying to get some lovin?

these are some great lookin fish i wish i had room for another pair!

He's trying to get some lovin I think. My male cacatuoides has a very similar attitude. Watch though, to make sure he doesn't do any damage.

The female tends to get the yellow colour when she's getting ready to, or has laid eggs.
Good luck, they are pretty little fish :)
