View Full Version : Veil tail angels
I have six DD black Super veil tail angels that I bought on Aquabid.
Their body is ˝ dollar size.
How big do they get before they “pair up”?
And is it bad to spawn siblings?
Thank you

Not much, if any bigger - and I wouldn't expect many of the fry to make it, between the all black & inbreeding both being deleterious to survival rates...

Thank you Squawk, I'm kicking it around. I really just want a few fry to survive.

Breeding an inbred variety can be difficult or rewarding depending on how you approach it. Breeding siblings is like European royalty. The English, German, and Russian royal families were all related before WW1. I would suggest setting up potential pairs of your best DDB's with the best silvers you can get. These pairs will not be related, at least not in recent times, and will produce strong fry. The fry should be, statistically, at least 1/4 DDB. Match fry from two different pairings and you have a stronger fish. This process actually is used by commercial breeders every 5-10 generations to keep their lines strong.
