I have to get a cheap tropical fish set up by January. With my school project I have to take home the fish from our project and mom will only let me have them if i can get the tank stuff on my budget. So basically I'm looking for a tank 30 - 40 gallons with all the tropical tank parts. like a heater and filter ect. I'll buy all the fake plants and stuff elsewhere. Soo does anyone have a tank setup i could have for a cheap price with a hood and stand to put it on and keep the cats out :) Thanks guys

P.S.S. This is the correct one ignore the 10 - 20 gallon one. wrong sizes
 
check your local craigslist.org for aquariums you can pick them up pretty cheap quite often.

Ya i know...How hard are they to ship? or is it just wicked exspensive
 
Just keep looking on Craigslist, something will turn up on there. I got a 29G with stand, heater, lights and filter for $75. I had seen a 29G on there for free, but was too late to get that one.

You should be able to find something for around $100 on there for a 55G.
 
Definetly if there arent any posted for sale on craigslist make a wanted posting. I searched and searched for a tank bigger than 10 gallons, and I was willing to pay even up to 75 dollars for a 20 gallon. A couple that had moved and still had their fish tank empty in the basement responded saying they hadnt even thought of selling it and didnt plan to set it up, so they gave me a 40 gallon corner tank with a filter, heater, stand, lights, and decor for 50 bucks.
 
sweet i put up a few requests in the closest places to me on craig list so hopefully i'll get something.
