I have a customsealife smartlite 48" (2x65w) light strip sitting on my 55 gal tank. For safety and air circulation reasons, I'd like to put some distance between it and the tank rim. But customsealife is out of business, so I don't know what my options are: that would be reasonably easy to construct(assuming it has to be diy), look OK and not be too precarious. Conversely, are there generic light strip legs for sale of which I'm unaware? all suggestions welcome, thanks. Pictures of your solution to a similar problem good too.

I had considered that but there are no mounting points on the light strip and I wouldn't know where to begin attaching to the ceiling etc.

although that company is out of business im sure someone on the net sells their stuff. You might be able to find a couple places that sell their legs. IMO legs are so cheap they dont really need diy, unless you have the material already laying around.

Just a few places that come to mind

knotch 2 pieces of wood like 2x4 or go nice finish wood. make 2 pieces. set on top of tank..set the light in...you can control your own height then and match the finish to your liking.....
