oh no

my friend,well someone i know, has a terrible set up, she has a 3 gallon tank, if you can call 3 gallons a tank, with three 4 inch goldfish in it, they have a teeny tiny filter and a fake ship thing, and thats it. she does a 20% pwc once every couple of weeks, and the tank is only 3/4 full aswell. i feel so bad about these poor guys, she said she had brought herself a small tank and had set it up a few months ago but i didnt get round there til last night, needless to say i was a touch speechless at the tiny thing she was proud of. i told her my 2 fancy goldfish have 30 gallons to themselves and thats not really enough in my eyes, and that she will be killing her common goldies slowly by having them in such confinement,told her she needs more like a 75 gallon tank and she just laughed in my face like i was joking,but she is so stubborn and just keeps saying they look happy and eat plenty and they all swim around lots and fish only grow to the size of their tank. i wish i could nick them and let them go in my neighbours pond but she would just go and buy more,i asked her why she got such a tiny tank and she said well its all that would fit on my nice display cabinet in one of the holes :mad2: so she has her 3 poor fish in tiny cramped conditions so they fit into her sitting room!!! just had to vent!

yet when i try to do things right my fish die-well they used to,my tanks are at long last stable and my fish are happy. i have another old school friend with a dojo loach and 4 goldfish in a 4 gallon tank, and they have lived this way for many years,with no water changes,just top ups. its true,the mind does boggle lol!
