Finally, I've ordered some of these wonderful dwarf cories. The only place I could find them was Corysrus, and I've ordered 20 with the fastest shipping possible to Canada (express). The 10g they'll be going in will be planted with some hiding spots.

Came to 125$ total. Hopefully there's not many DOA :eek3:

Yes, it is, Cal. I was googling for a better price and saw mostly people looking for them and no one else selling them. All or nothing with these guys :duh:

Good luck with your hastatus DwarfPuffer. I love mine and have them in a 20H for the purpose of breeding them. They can often be obtained from floridaguppiesplus but he seldom advertises them. I got a dozen there for about $50 american delivered to my door. He even threw in an extra one that was not part of the deal.
My experience with that store keeps me going back for more. They are always good to deal with and often add something to your order just for good measure. When I ordered a bunch of fish food from them, I got a sample that I had not ordered. It wasn't much and probably not worth much but fish always seem to come with an extra or two and everything about the transactions has been a delight.

Hastatus are the least often encountered of the commercially available dwarf cories. Enjoy them, they are a fun group of fish.

What I have found Inka is that the LFS often label their habrosus as hastatus. I have both but it is like trying to correct them when they have trilineatus marked as julii. They just don't want to hear it.

Wow... Thankfully I've never encountered that at my local LFS (probably because they never have anything remotely close to that cool), but its hard to see how they could even manage to confuse the two. Regardless, I hope you enjoy them DP, don't forget to post pics once they settle in.

I agree they are hard to mistake for a habrosus. These are hastatus http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/ll251/Oldman1947/Pygmies/Closeup800.jpg

The stuff that looks like gravel in this extreme closeup is a fairly fine grained sand that is less than 0.5 mm in diameter.

This is a picture I just took of my habrosus. I have no idea how you could confuse them except on purpose.

I've seen pygmys labelled hastatus but coryrus has a good reputation so you should be good. They are super cute, I'm excited for you!

I wish I could find some fairly priced hastatus. They're my favorite cory! My lfs sells pygmaeus labeled as hastatus. I've tried to tell him they're not hastatus, but he says that's what his distributors call them. He charges 1.25 ea. for pygmaeus, so I have a school of them instead. They're (almost) as pretty and just as cute in personality as hastatus!
