a buddy of mine gave me this big ugly filter... the trio 3000.. but i dont know how it works... he sad something about charcoal..if someone could take the time and explain it to me that would be great. thnx

doing a search for hagen trio 3000 on google brought up mostly european links. does it have a normal 115v plug on it? not sold often in the us is my guess. apparently it sits inside the tank - stuck to the back wall of the tank with suction cups..
the carbon looks to be in a pouch or bag, but since no stores sell the filter, none will sell the bagged up carbon either. it looks like it has space for a sponge and for some loose charcoal or ammonia absorbing rock [forget what its called].
it is rated to 130gallons
another google site had more people complaining than praising it.
i personally have never seen one before.
good luck. at least you didnt pay for it.

its just a normal plug... I got it running and i can see why he gave it to me...
