saw my shrimp doing some werid stuff. Took some pics of her dragging the eggs around by a long string of clear stuff. She drug the eggs around the tank for about an hr then started to stuff them under her tail. Now most of them are under her tail but some got hung up on some plants and are now stuck. lol oh well. I just thought it was weird, I read on it that the eggs pass through the sperm and into the tail but didn't know they actually hung around away from the shrimp. Anyhow enjoy!

oh and a pic of my baby shrimp and dad under the rainbow!

She's discarding her eggs. I think she may be stressed out. It happens from time to time in my tank. Totally normal and will be laying eggs again when she molts

The male can only mate when the female has freshly molted. the eggs are internally fertalized then before she lays

yeah she picked them back up. But she didn't until she found a spot were I guess other fish couldn't see her?? She would walk and kind of look around and try to pick them up. Then a shrimp would walk by so she would relocate time and time again. Then she finally found a good spot by that moss and rock.

I can honestly say I have never seen my shrimp do this. What are the tankmates? water parameters? any other signs of stress?

very strange, maybe she is using the eggs as a decoy so that SHE doesnt get eaten, most likely she is stressed about something. congratulations on getting pictures of this, great experience

lol well the only thing in the tank are shrimp and otos. I know that doesn't mean she can't be stressed but there is not too much going on in the tank. It's a 12gallon eclispe tank, and I do water changes weekly, I do see lots of baby shrimp in the tank from the last time she was berried. I just chalk it up to a fluke as she would of put all of them under her tail if they wouldn't of got hung up a piece of moss. She still is fine as of today and has the eggs in her tail still. Not sure what to do with the eggs on the plant though.
