Ok, i am considering changing my tank to a gravel/sand tank...if you want to know why, read my post in the catfish forum, this is the third one i have made with questions about this so i wont type it again.

Here are my questions:

What depth of sand would be best for my plants, even with the gravel?

Will most plants do ok in a sand substrate?

Any other comments or suggestions about making the transition i if i decided to do it?

thanks

Here's my opinion, I would have about an inch deep at the very front of the tank, and at the most about 3 inches at the back. I would have the sand at a slope, from shallowest at front to deeper sand in the back. The back of the tank has the most and largest plants..(for the most part), and those plants need deeper substrate for longer root systems.
