Blue Kenyi..one turned a rust color?

i have two blue kenyi's
when i first bought them about 6 months ago they were both a really bright blue..now one has changed to a drab looking rust color..does this mean one is female and one is male? or do kenyi have a tendacy to wash out the bright blue color?

any input is appreciated

The one that is still blue is female, the one changing colors will ultimately turn yellow and is male.

I would still wait with the m/f decision based on appearance alone, it's been known for sub dominant males to keep a female coloration for a while, at 6 months (should be around 3"+) they can be vented to know for sure.

ok..yes they are right around 3" maybe a tad smaller
i dunno how to tell by venting..i just know one was\is turning a diff color for some reason

It is normal esp. with Kenyi. I have a subdominant male who is yellow. It is almost full grown about 1 1/2 years old and just yesterday it turned back to blue. I now know it is a female dressed in male colors and for a long time.
