Is Spirulina a valuable food source for Mystery snails? I saw some sinking Spirulna tablets for sale and was wondering if they were worth buying?

I use spirulina as an additive, but haven't fed it on its own. Is there a nutritional breakdown on the packaging?
Hmmm . . . didn't get that far - LOL! It's just that I've heard of Spirulina and when I saw it came in a sinking tablet I thought it might be worth trying. Does it have to be 100% Spirulina or anything like that? I was thinking of adding it to snail jello.

I had spirulina flakes that I got from kensfish.com that I added. The snails liked them, lol. Here is a page of info: http://www.****************/information/feeding_spirulina.htm

I think that you would still need to supplement calcium, but its a fantastic additive.

The sinking pellet I found was at www.thatfishplace.com and the first ingredient was fish meal, with spirulina listed second. The protein content was about 47%. I always use Jurassi Cal in the jello. The flakes sound like a great idea - thanks!

I too would use it as a additive not fed just the way it is.Why not make some snail jello and add it
That was my idea. I'm always looking for something new to add to the snail jello. My little guys like variety!

You can get 100% pure powdered spirulina and chlorella at the health food store. That's what I use for my goldfish jello (which the shrimp love btw). It's generally cheaper than spirulina products made for fish, and instead of getting a bunch of tablets of questionable amounts, you get a whole bottle of pure powder that can be dispensed at will. Might be something to look into
