Im not going to name names or sites but a member on a particular website is being a real pain.So i make a post for a hagen co2 tank and get a reply from this member. When i opened the message he stated he had what i was looking for so i said "great please give your paypal".He said he would ship priority for 5.00.Well i must admit i took a couple days to make payment but i did make it on saturday and when i questioned him i think on tuesday he said and i quote "LMAO i forgot".I was a little irrated but didn't say anything. Then today i get a PM from him stating he shipped it parcel post!I could have bought the thing for an additional $5.00 and had it today.Well i PM'ed him back stating i was disappointed that he shipped parcel and not priority. What i get back from him is a rant how he didn't have enough money when he walked into the PO,how he had to come back and how he had to ship parcel post because it cost him to much.I thought how does any of this relate to me they seem to be all his problems with under quoting me for shipping and walking into the store without sufficient funds. So we were going back and forth through pm's a couple more times when i said why didn't just send it through paypal and he stated "so you just slap any postage on it you want?I have had stuff returned that way and had to repay all the postage."Now again how is that my fault?Just because he doesn't have a scale isn't my fault and for the record if he's reading this you just have to pay the additional not all of it.
If you read through this short story, you can understad how someone can be mad at a person like this:wall:

i don't own a scale.. i've underquoted people on shipping before, as long as they got the product, they were happy. :)

I do have scale access but have underquoted despite this.
One time, I recycled a Priority box w/o wrapping it in brown paper, so I had to pay Priority rate instead of the $1.35 I thought it would cost.
In every instance, I ate the difference, but then I'm just in it (selling & shipping plants) so that I don't have to throw out the excess plants (though I admit I've saved enough to go pressurized - almost).

I always estimate the shipping weights, and am usually over.
If I underestimate the cost of shipping, UPS is usually cheaper, and I'll send it that way..
I have sent packages next day UPS that were the same cost as USPS priority.
(yeah I do get a UPS discount!)

The way I see it, you didn't have to pay any extra...you'll just have to wait a little longer to receive the item. As you admittedly waited a few days before paying, it's clear that this is something you don't urgently need.
Assuming the item arrives undamaged, you should be good to go, right? Just take a few deep breaths and move on... :)

Not every instance is the same and saying "well this happened before" is not very good business. If the seller underquoted then it should be the seller who eats the difference to get the package to you the way it was intended.
There were many times when i under quoted shipping cost but hey i promised the person I would send the plants so I have no choice.
One does not have to own a scale to get an estimate for the shipping weight. Many sites contain the product weight in their description so just take that weight to usps website and do the estimate there..
I now personally hate parcel post. It takes 2-3x the regular priority and just isnt worth the headache.

You quote the price. You quote the shipping. You have to pay less - you win. you have to pay more - I win. Either case it is not MY problem, period! As a seller/reseller the onus is upon you to make sure of all costs, not the buyer.
You have established a contract and set the terms with the buyer and as such you are legally bound to honor said contract. End of story.
(I had my own business and this was made clear to me by MY attorney as what constitutes a contract.)

i still fail to see the conflict.
person paid for item (late)
seller shipped item (late, but hey, payment was late, so what's the diff? complaint about late shipping is effectively not valid)
person is scheduled to recieve said item.
is there really any more to it than that? seriously. patience is a virtue. its not like he's holding the item demanding more money. instead, he shipped it how he could (which is gonna take a few extra days.. i'm pretty sure nobody's gonna die if it takes a few more days to get there).

parcel post often isnt much cheaper anyways lol
^^ i agree $1-2 cheaper
If person states $5 shipped usps priority then it should be kept as priority and not parcel..

re: contracts - when in doubt, courts tend to rule against the author of the contract (generally the seller in these instances).

Well then, problem solved. The OP just needs to get their attorney on the horn. :)

yes, lets call our attorney over a shipping price difference of less than $3.00, for an item that has already been shipped.

LOL im calling Judy!Have you seen her shows. She really whales on the people.Anyways i wouldn't be quite so mad if he just said i'm sorry but instead he said i needed to stop complaining and there was nothing to be disappointed about.Shoot he was the one giving me all the excuses.I could have bought the thing local as i needed it rather soon because algae is taking over one of my takes but instead i decided to help out a fellow member which turned out to be a mistake.

I'm just giving you a hard time. But Judge Judy rocks. Of all the TV judges, she's the only one who really ferrets out the information and doesn't just spew garbage in her rulings.
But back to your original post... If I had purchased something off of an e-commerce site and they changed shipping methods on me, I'd be ticked. But as I'm assuming that this was a guy on this site who had something laying around in his basement (and just misquoted shipping), I'd be a little more lenient. You mentioned 'helping him out.' Keep in mind that he helped you out, too. :)

I'd think the irritating thing here isn't the wait but it's that the seller is apparently a thoughtless idiot. He quoted a price with priority shipping, so supposedly the buyer was *paying for* priority shipping. The buyer may have paid late, but the seller shipped late, shipped wrong, and was painfully idiotic to talk to from what it sounds like. I can understand the OP's frustration, as stupid people tick me off, too... just for being stupid.

In your original post you said 'if he's reading this,' so I thought he might be a member here. If not, crucify the guy.... ;)
