no... speed does not kill.

(i'm a driving enthusiast so grin and bear it)

unfamiliar roads, unfavorable conditions, inexperience, suboptimal driving setups, and a driver that fails to see one or more of these combinations BEFORE adding speed to the equation is ultimately what causes problems. the impact is usually what kills. ;)

as george carlin said..

"ever notice how anyone driving faster than you is a maniac, and anyone driving slower than you is an idiot?"

Yeah, it is the sudden stop that does it!

Actually, I don't think it was the stop. i think it was a tree in this case. i was thinking when i read that post "speed kills" that it certainly didn't kill this guy. Lucky for him.

Though thats the majority of drivers out there on the roads. They may be experienced in driving for a while so they think they are experienced in upping the speed of their vehicle.

Impact does kill but hey it can be a fender bender which does nothing or if you add speed + no brains you get things like this.

Even so unfamiliar roads.. Every town has their lil spots where "experienced drivers" gather to street race illegally on "empty residential streets". Though they might have been racing there for a while and know the street like the back of their hand. You still dont know what might happen.

With the guy above, just by looking at the shape of the car he must've hit that tree EXTREMELY hard and fast to have the car rip open like that. Plus being on a narrow road like doesnt help his speeding..

I have said for years... "Fast is fun but crash and burn sucks!" I personally have never been in a speed related accident. All were caused by destraction carelessness alcohol poor visibility and stupidity. I had been involved in more than my fair share but only at fault in 3 in my life.
