Okay, so I've noticed recently that my cat has taken a liking to the fish tanks that I've had. Wasn't a problem for a while, but now, they are on individual stands instead of a counter. The stand I got looks like this:http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/3/3017200604C.jpg

The thing is, when this is on carpet, it doesn't seem like the most sturdy thing built by man. So today, I woke up finding my cat trying to grab the fish through the glass, tipping the tank and stand just slightly...

I also have another 20 gallon tank on a flimsy wooden stand, it holds great, but again, the whole carpeted thing is a factor. So... I was wondering if there was any way one can cat proof a tank stand...

Let me know of any strategies, knowledge, etc about pet proofing a stand. Thanks!

I used an L bracket and attached it to my wall. The only thing to be careful about is if it is by a door the vibrations from shutting the door transfer to the tank and the fish freak out. :nilly:

step1.
let cat outside.
step2.
close door.

tank is now catproof.

seriously though, attach the tank to the wall with some brackets or wood, or even nylon straps. It might help also to put some wood under the egs of the stand th help steady it.

Yeah I was thinking about something like mounting it to the wall, the door shutting is not a problem because it's all the way on the other side of the room, it shouldn't spook the fish much if any.

Well we have an indoor cat... =)

Wood on the legs won't help, because it will just make it wobble more... I've tested this out. I will find some sort of brackets to strap it to the wall though. Thanks!
