I currently have Zebra and Kuhli loaches and I LOVE them.
In fact I went out and bought a new tank for them just so I could get more and they could have the soft sand they prefer!!

There are 3 chocolate kuhlis in the tank now. Before I got into the shrimp there were several Clowns, Yoyos and Angelicus. I would love to set up a stream tank for Hillstreams one day.

I just came home from vacation & there's a loach forum! Very cool!

I currently have sids, striatas, clowns, kuhlis, v. maassi & schistura "crimson". I tried skunks for a while but couldn't give them a good home, too aggressive.

They're all snubbing me right now, mad they had a sitter & no veggies for a week.

I have had a clown loach in the past when I first started up my very first 30 gallon and he actually lasted a long time and now reading up on them knowing I know nothing at all!! But I have decided I might not be ready for one, I was wondering about Botia loaches... are they good/easy for someone just starting out?

Which species would you like to start? How big is the tank? They're very easy to keep except when they're riddled with internal parasites. Yoyos are easy to keep but too boisterous and too big at 5-6 inches. A 55g is usually the minimum for all species of the botiine genus due to plenty of space although a 40g will work for Botia dario, Botia histrionica, Botia striata and Botia rostrata. A 20-30g for Yasuhikotakia sidthimunki.

corys, and dojos :) (I cant believe people eat these guys!)

Lupin

Breeze, cories are not loaches. They're catfish. Yes, a lot of Asian countries do use dojos as one of their food fish. I'm from one of the Asian countries but I don't eat dojos.lol

LOL, I know that, but for some reason I spaced it:). Only one cup of coffee today....I think they do in japan, I told my husband if I catch him near my my tank with chopsticks, it is over!
