This is a picture of 3 of my albino tinfoils barbs- They are about 6 or 7 inches each. my elephant nose got in the picture to. I only have a webcam, so here it is:
Cool fish I have never seen them in an albino form. What size tank are they in? also do they still have the silver color? its hard to tell from the pic.
Nice Healthy Looking Tinfoils..... what makes those Albino? I have 2 that are getting a little too big for my 90gal but I'm finding them hard to part with. Anyway, yours seem to have some color on the tails and look roughly (in shape anyway) like mine and I was wondering what the difference is?
This is the tank they are in: A 60 Gallon tank (2 pics..same tank).
The webcam talkes really bad photos. The fish are PURE WHITE with RED eyes and red in the fins. Normal tinfoils are SILVER with black and red in the fins.
Albino tinfoils are the same as the normoal variety EXCEPT they are albino. When I bought them a year ago (2 inches) they did not have any red in the fins and I was hoping they wouldnt get any..but they did. The webcam sucks. Like I said before, In reality they are PURE white with red eyes. IMO, alot prettier then the normal version. BUT your 2 tinfoils should be fine in a 90 gallon..you dont need to get rid of them. My dad had 3 in his tank for 10 years with no stunting problems (grew to 8-10 inches)
These are mine...he has the normal kind. Albino is a genetic flaw. And occurs RARELY in nature. These albinos were bred for this trait. I hardly ever see these guys in store. The only time I did see albino tinfoils was when I bought them. They had a tank with 10 of them. The only color they have is red in the fins, other then that, they are pure white with red eyes.
Slip is more of the scientific mind so you can ask why a albino fish has red in the fins.
I once posted a pic of these, as I have three. They are not albinos, but are called golden tin foil barbs. They can typically be found at Petsmart and are not rare at all, sorry. I happened upon mine at Wal-Mart, where I too thought they were an albino form. Several senior members here straightened me out.
judy
I think they are pseudo albinos, they have or lack melanin or something, not sure. But those that look like albinos but are not usually don't have red eyes
