just got a 55 gallon tank i am planning on setting it up with many rock struc tures and i was wondering if anyone had any suggtestions as far as fish go i have kept differnet kinds of cichlids for 5 years now and am wondering if anyone would like to share what they think would be a beutiful fish or assortment of fish in a 55 gallon tank

Does this include limestones which can buffer your water? If so, you may want Lake Malawi or Lake Tanganyikan cichlids. How about shelldwellers and julidochromis?

julidochromis transcriptus and some neolamprologus multifasciatus shellies from tanganyika will do nicely in a 55gal or yellow labs and fullerborni from malawi will fill in nice as well..

i was thinking about putting flagstone in there but im not sure what that will do to the water seeing as it sometimes falls apart. and i was deffinetly gonna put 6 spotted cory cats in there what do you think would compliment them well and not eat thm?

cory's and tangies or malawis dont mix to well the cory's will be picked on badly, you can go with some kribs and corys but they tend to be less aggressive towards them..i'm not sure on the flagstone aye..

yea right now i have a samll tiger oscar in a 29 gallon and he is really lonely so i wanted to put him in the 55 gallon and i figured as long as the corys have a enough places to hide it wont be a problem putting some mnore cichlids in there tell me what you think

When you put the Oscar in the 55 you are basically stocked, and some would say in need of an upgrade sooner than you think.

Corys arn't going to work there albeit the Oscar will love them. In the same way I like hotdogs.
