Hey guys.

At the base, the new growth of my Vals is growing in "clear", meaning that there isn't much green and the "web" of the leaves seem to be clear.

Does anyone know what this means?

Setup:

20g long
56 watts
Bio-Co2 system
Flourish Root Tabs
Flourish Trace (once a week)
Potassium (Nusalt - once a week)

Thanks!

are you using excel?

sounds like theyre being undernourished.

out of curiosity... why the potassium? root tabs supply plenty of that. what about the other macros?

Most likely a deficiency, is your water soft or artificially softened, vals are a hardwater loving plant.

No, my water is not artificially softened.

I dose Potassium because my Anubias were sprouting new leaves with pinholes in them. I read that this is due to a potassium deficiency. After I started dosing Potassium, no more pinholes.

What are the other ferts that I should be dosing?

Instead of Flourish trace, I would just use either Flourish or CSM+B for my micro nutrients.

rsanz, I've seen this in tanks with insufficient light. What is color temp. and type of light on this tank?

The system entails 56 watts (double tube T-5 fixture and a single tube T-8 fixture) over a 20g long tank. The colors temps on the bulbs are 6700k and 10,000k on the T-5s, and a 6700k on the T-8.
