AC 110 Foam - How long should I keep re-using it?

I have a AC110 HOB filter on my tropical freshwater 55g tank. I read some where that I could re-use the foam over and over and never replace it. Is this true? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I have never replaced mine.. only 2 years.. I don;t plan on replacing it unless it falls apart...

:iagree: I have had mine in for two years also, I just take it out and clean it in tank water every other water change (twice a month)

Just rinse it out in tank water and re-use until it A) falls apart, B) water won't pass thru in spite of rinsing, C)You have a nitrate problem and can't get it to drop.

I agree, I have not replaced the foam in most ofmy filters to date.

The same goes for other AC foams too. I have an AC 50 that has been in use since march.

unless its falling apart dont replace it. wash it in old tank water.
