I use a 4" computer fan with a selectable DC power supply. the fan is right in the middle of the top, and blows up, sucking air out of the hood. I have it running on about 6 volts, which I found to be the best compromise between air flow and noise level. Larger fans will more more air, more quietly than small fans.

I have multiple 4" computer fans in our canopy, running off an old computer supply. It's pretty surprising how much quieter a 4" fan can be compared to a 3" fan rated for the same amount of air movement, but makes sense once you consider the 4" fan is spinning lower RPMs to move the same amount of air.

I started off with four 1.5" fans and changed to a single 4" fan running on 6V, which seems to be plenty for the 4x55w over my 55 in an enclosed canopy.

There's six 4" fans in our canopy, but I'm overdriving some of our T5 HO bulbs. They circulate air along the length of the bulbs. I'm considering getting a cheap fan controller to throttle them down a little, as they might be slightly overcooling the bulbs.
