Hi all,
Had a major outbreak of what I think was the black beard algae. So I decided to rescape and get rid of all plants and substrate on the weekend.
I was using DIY CO2 (yeast/sugar reactor) in past, with a ceramic disk bell shaped thingy to distribute into tank. This over time was clogged and consumed with the algae outbreak, so I dipped into water/bleach to kill and clean the bell. This was quite a success however I believe there is still some bleach residue in the bell and am concerned in putting it back into tank.
Any suggestions on the safety aspect of reusing said bell, as it may be toxic to new setup?
Any help/advise would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

you can try soaking it in a dechlorinator, or scrubbing it with it and then continue to rinse it...

Yes give it a good rinse. Soak in a solution of dechlorinator and you should be good to go. People do this with glass diffusers all the time. Some, probably most, even skip the dechlorinator solution part an plop it right back into their tanks.

Thanks guys for your replys, I did as suggested and have since reinstated diffuser into tank with DIY yeast/sugar bottles, all seems well for now. I also purchased some plants on the weekend and tank is staring to take shape, will have to post pic soon!
Cheers.

Thank you for the kind comments, I'm still not entirely pleased with the aesthetics of the tank. Soo, I'm thinking of getting rid of the sand 'river look' and move the drift wood to the middle and make this the centre piece (corys will not be happy, as they love to sift through the sand, i've noticed).
This will allow me to stock more plants and hopefully give it that forest look...I've ordered a few new plant's... I'd really like to get some low lying foreground plants, any suggestions?
Thanks again!

Well, here's an update, I've rescaped the tank to taken out the sand and have replaced with more black gravel. The idea is to have more space as the sand 'river look' simply took up space.

...and some shots of the fishies, the Bolivian Ram I just picked up on the weekend. I used to have one as my avitar would suggest. I lost him a while back and simply could'nt resist...cute little guys with heaps of personality :headbang2:!

In this shot, i've noticed all other plants doing really well, but for this one. It's lost some of the intence green look and has gone rather pale. Does anyone know the right conditions for it to flurish? I'm currently dosing with Flurish Excel with DIY CO2.
