So finally! The package came in a few hours ago! I am so lucky they are very beautiful fish! Thanks a lot to everyone here on this forum who have helped me out with all my questions about these wonderful fish and maintaining my planted tank! I love this site! And Debbi thanks again for pointing me in the right direction...towards getting my discus from kenny. He's a great guy and he's very helpful! He even followed up and called me after i got my fish acclimated and into my tank.

Here is my post on the Simply Discus forum on Kenny Cheungs Sponsor page.

I ordered my first discus fish from Kenny and let me tell you he made it all very easy! He was recommended to me by Debbi aka pinkertd on the AC forum. I was first emailing him my questions and what type of strains to get etc etc... And he replied to all my emails very promptly! I finally called him up and placed my order on Wednesday and VOILA I received my fish today Friday at 10:26 am and thanks to Kenny's walkthrough in acclimating them the day before they were in my tank my 11:45 http://forum.simplydiscus.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

The packaging was absolutely perfect. It couldn't get any better than that. Quadruple bagged and wrapped in newspaper so the fish wouldnt be stressed in a styrofoam box in another cardboard box with a heat pack! And the heat pack was still warm! I am speechless. I even had trouble with all those rubberbands http://forum.simplydiscus.com/images/smilies/smile.gif And there were no leaks anywhere!

And at 12:26 pm EST lo and behold Kenny calls me up and follows up on the shipment making sure that everything is ok! Now thats what I call service deluxe! Above and beyond the call of duty I say. He also gives me a couple of tips on feeding them and taking care of them for the first few days.

Thanks a lot Kenny I have learned so much from you and you have made my first discus aquisition and getting into this hobby a lot of fun and stress free!
Guys I must say you can never go wrong ordering from Kenny. And he threw in two asian airstones. Sweet!

Also did I mention that the fish were absolutely beautiful! I am so lucky he handpicked the strains that I wanted and gave me the biggest and most beautiful ones in his tanks. It's great!

Bravo Kenny! Was a pleasure doing business with you!

Here are some pics I took with my balckberry phone... quality might not be as good: so in Chronological order i call this from BOX to BUCKET!

And here are the pics! Thanks for looking! :headbang2:

Marl, how are they doing?

HI DEb! They are doing great! My apologies have not been able to post anything on the forum for a while. Been too busy with them. (ie staring into tank.....)

Been feeding them at least 4-5 times a day as much as they can eat then doing 50% WC every other day. My tank's water parameters are as follows before a WC.
temp 86F
pH 7
Ammonia 0
Nitrite .2
Nitrate 20ppm
dKh 1
dGH 5

Do you think the nitrates are too high? Should I do 40% daily WC instead? My tap water is reallly soft. Should I start adding baking soda after each WC?

Those are my concerns for now. ASides from that they are doing great! Will post pics in a bit.

Looks like your tank is doing a bit of cycling there probably due to the addition of the discus load and the filter needs to match the load and grow extra bacteria to handle the additional ammonia. I wouldn't worry about that nitrate level. It is not that bad. Do you know what your tap water nitrate level is? Sometimes mine comes out at 10-12ppm. I can't help you with advice on baking soda addition for soft water, I've never had to mess with water for soft or hard water issues. Can't wait to see more pics. Glad everything's going great!!

Your PH is fine. I think Kenny's PH is relatively close to that. Since they aren't wild they will be fine as long as it doesn't fluctuate. As for the water changes, do them daily until they are about 5", then every other day or so should work.

When mines were 2.5" I changed it daily and all of them except two(they get bullied during feeding unfortunately) have grown 2-3 inches in the past two and a half months.

What are you feeding them and why 4-5 times/day?
