hi im just a beginner to this whole fish thing. I basically wanted to find out if any fish would be ok with my beta since ive heard all along no fish, wanted to see how true this was? Nice tank. Additional stock will really depend on the size of the tank. And by looks of it, that tank will be only good enough for the betta, perhaps some snails.

Hey and Welcome, where abouts from NY are you? And I wouldnt put any other fish in that tank. Its too small for companions. In a 10g tank you could so some cory cats for the bottom. You want to stay away from fish with vibrant colors and flowy fins. Your betta could mistake them for another male betta and kill it.

you could throw some feeder shrimp in there as long as it has a bubbler and regular water changes, you could throw some jave fern in there, for them to hide in, its a low light plant, and it helps with the eco system of the tank.

The light in the tank she has (I have the same one with a betta) doesnt allow live plants to survive, even low light ones. But silk plants are best for bettas as the plastic ones tend to damanges fins.
