Well I went to my fish tank two mornings ago and my mickey mouse finned platy was floating at the top, still alive, but barely.
The kids get sad and say "poor widdle fishie"...so Mommy (me) takes him and puts him on his way to fishy heaven. Down the toilet, and we live right next to the river, so I tell the boys that the river is fishy heaven and that is where he goes. (Our sewer doesn't go into the river...)

I don't have a green thumb for fish, but i am trying....

Sorry for the loss. Please don't flush a live fish down the toilet again.

actually he was 99% dead...I didn't want him to die in the tank and then start to contaminate to water...I suppose I could have put him in a cup of water...what do you do with your fish if they die? Is it bad for the septic? I don't know that is what everyone that I know that has fish does with theirs.

60? your fish must have dad babies............did that happen on purpose? Meaning do you breed your fish? or did you just happen to have baby fishys by chance. I had a preg platy once...but I never seen any babies, I think I stressed her out, by putting her into her own little breeding tank all alone, then moving her back, then moving her again plus the daddy, I was worried about the other fish eating the babies, and I didn't know what to do. I bought a little breeding tank, but that was way to small for her. Anyway, wish I lived closer...
