Although I haven't done a fishless cycle yet, I've read quite a bit about them. From what I understand, tank size really doesn't figure into the question. The whole process seems to be about three weeks or so whether you've got a 10 gal or 110 gal. Other factors would include how accurately you're dosing your tank with ammonia, whether or not you've seeded it with filter media or gravel from an established tank, and things of that nature.

with the tank dosed with 3ppm of ammonia it took about 6 days for nitrites to show and begin to spike. it took much longer for the nitites to start dropping and nitrates to show. all in all my fishless cycle took a month.

Generally, in an unseeded tank, a couple weeks, plus or minus several days, can go by before you see nitrites.
