At the Bottom, gilling rapidly.
I was pulling out deco in advance of the move next week and get things tidied up. After I pulled out the last piece of deco and turned around I immediately noticed there were only four loaches. What? My eyes must be playing tricks on me... but... I can count to four pretty good. No remains though? No. Nooooooo......

So I stuck my head under the stand and sure enough, lying in back of the left canister was one of my male clown loaches, sorta dried out but probably only a few days down. :tombstone:

I know last weeks maint I still had five because i was trying out my new camera and got them feeding. The cutout on the back of the lid is so small, I just don't understand how he could have made that jump. I thought I had it close enough with only an inch extra - from an older piece of equipment. Nice timing, fish - you were going to move to a tropical paradise. Wtf.

Devastated :(

that's too bad. loaches do that, apparently. i've never had that happen personally, but i have taken them out of the tank accidentally because they lodged themselves inside of things...luckily i found them before it was too late.

Never had that happened. My tanks are opentopped. The only time they ever get out of the tank by accident is when they lodge themselves on driftwoods, rocks, etc. I always check all decors before removing them completely out of the tank.

I have never seen a loach exhibit "jumping behavior" and, as such, this could only happen to me.

6-4" long Yoyos, 1.5" X 2" feeding hole in the acrylic top of my tank (over which I normally keep a 12" feeding tube) and one dried out Yoyo on the carpet.

i have had two jumpers so far

late one night i decide to go down to look at my tanks for the end of the day and there on top of the tray i have covering one tank is my 14 " pleco just stairing at me crazy

the other day im doing a wc on my columbian shark tank and my big one at least 14 " maybe 15" does this arc out of the tank only to land in my drain sink i could not believe it called him a freak and put it back in the tank

sorry to hear about your fishes death

^^ rofml lol

It's hard to feel too bad about it when it was their dumb decision. Just wish I'd been there to catch him ya know? Thanks guys. Gave him a burial in the flower garden.

have you been keeping up on your water changes? and are the conditions in the tank to the fishes liking? that's the only reason i can think of for them to be trying to escape.
