We are proud to present the next exciting competition to hit your screens, the Offical AquariaCentral.Com "Design an Avatar" competition.


~~ "We" provide the canvas, "You" get Creative ~~


Members must use the "AC" outline supplied below and fashion a FREEHAND avatar by incorporating it into an avatar scheme that's all your own. Members can ONLY use Microsoft Paint for this contest and must retain the 150 x 150 pixel size. Members suspected of cutting and pasting pictures, resizing, or using programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. will have their submissions disqualified. Once we receive all of the files to the e-mail address below, avatars will be displayed for members to vote on which one they think is the best. Time to steady your hand, get your creative juices flowing and start showing how proud you are to be a member of AquariaCentral.Com!

i got it, just go down where the avatar is and right click it, save as. Go to microsoft paint and open the file you save and whala!!!

Re-done the picture file on post #1 Que.....re-download it, open in paint, all should now be fine. I had the same issue you did....lol

CTRL+F5 refresh will be needed when viewing post #1

But seriously why mess around with 256, let's do this in 16 colors like we mean it.

OK, so Paintbrush and/or MacPaint are the Mac version of MS paint. They do not have a couple of (IMO) critical features that MS paint has (such as image scaling, spray paint tool, switch back ground from white to clear, polygon creator...the list goes on)

There's another free MS Paint-type program out for Macs called Seashore (http://seashore.sourceforge.net/index.php). Are we allowed to use it? It has layer features and customizable brushes....So I'm guessing the answer is no.

(All else fails I can just borrow a computer with MS paint, lol!)

I would have totally entered this competition in a heart beat, but well... it will take 10 times longer to make something decent in MS Paint than it will in Photoshop.

Too bad it's not a competition where people are allowed to actually utilize their skills.

The playing field is not so level afterall.

Then I guess based on that logic, the entries for the POTM and TOTM competitions should have to taken with lower resolution point & click cameras & not $3000 clunkers with macro lenses.

you cant make everyone happy, no matter what you do..
the challenge of a contest like this is to test your creativity, not your ability to use special software..

Its like a NASCAR restrictor plate race, or giving the little kid a head start, Its putting everyone on an equal playing field to see who can do the best with what they are given.. I actually did make my avatar in Paint, but then I animated it, all 20+ frames together.. I dont care that I couldnt enter it...

if it was photoshop probably 6 people or so including myself wouldnt have entered cuase while most can use photoshop there are others that now alot more tricks and skills in photoshop that maye even use it in their careers. Paint just has one set of tools and thats it no fading no smearing no bluring no nothing. many people who entered took 10 times longer to make their avatar and still entered. Sounds like just lazyness to me.

Thanks Woofy, but my point was actually that people should have been able to use any program they wanted - photoshop, paint, whatever.

Secondly, I would like to point out that you don't know me from a hole in the wall. I work a full time job and own a business & several websites on the side, so I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't call me lazy. I am so far from lazy it isn't even funny.

Lets drop the matter please folks...the comp submission side is done with now...the reasons have already been explained why the competition has been done like it has....For clarity, i shall re-iterate....

The comp is designed to put everyone on a level playing field, by only allowing MS Paint. The reason that it was not made a software "free for all" is because not everyone has the skills nor the design software to produce fancy logo's, its a little unfair on asking someone to pit their MS paint designed Logo against a graphic designer using photoshop.

These comps are designed for everyone to be able to take part and have as much chance of winning as the next person, not just a select few people.
