How do I start growing moss on my driftwood? I think it looks neat and really would like to start growing some. I have other live plants in there so I know things grow :silly:

java moss... you don't need to secure it to anything... if you want, use fishing like as mentioned

I use a super stretchy thread that you can get at a nice bait&tackle shop called spider thread. You can also grow the moss in a super humid enviroment to get it to root to wood faster

moss(java) is easy.
if you want it on wood.. tie it with either thread or fishing line.
you'll find members here that will give it away if you pay shipping(usually around $6)
I usually do but currently have a waiting list for moss ;)

I believe the moss in that pic is willow moss. Java moss doesn't usually grow as thick or as upright as that.

Actually the stuff on the back wall might actually be java moss...completely overlooked that the first time. Actually, more likely christmas moss. I think there are a few people here in the classifieds that sell one or both.

What is the "grass" on the substrate? I love that..

dwarf hairgrass would be my guess
Would be mine too, but it's such a bright green I thought it might be something else. The DHG I've had in the past was always more like hay than bright green grass.. Maybe he/she just knows how to keep it properly? lol
On driftwood, I use a plain ol stapler.

I attach my moss to wood with regular cotton string. Black for aesthetic purposes.
