besides you needing to replace the actinic bulbs with more plant appropriate ones, the light strip seems good. (though strangely/suspiciously cheap)

They are some of the cheapest lights that China produces, plus had a rep for catching fire, lol.

just remember you get exactly what you pay for..I wouldn't trust aquatraders at all...theres all kinds of horror stories out there with them....plus odessea is just garbage..if moneys tight then serious save cause your going to waste money in the end getting what you should have gotten the first time around just my 3 cents

You sure about that, I have shoplights in my garage that have been there for 2 decades, and also some above tanks that have been around for atleast 5 year+. Plus if they do die in 4months, take it back or spend another $10.

I made the mistake of buying an odyysea. Jebo and odysea are one in the same. If you have roughly $300 there are many lights you can buy that are not made in such a crappy way like Jebo or Odysea. Stay away from those brands. What size tank are you lighting? What is your objective of your tank?

where do you get that figure?

even so the ballasts can be replaced..that is what usually goes bad with these.

All of the Horror stories I have read are from 2005 and 2006. HAven't heard of any serious problems with the current lights. I am looking into their T5 and T-6 fixtures. When my money is right I may give them a try. Does anybody have any recent reviews of the lights?

I'd post another one but its an illegal growing forum (use your imagination) just google up "Home Depot T8"..

you can use 2 36″ fluorescent lights I believe the bulbs are 30-40 watts so thats like 130-160 total watts which is 1.4 watts per gal you can also get a dual strip for more watts OR you can get into T5 lighting just know that a 36 inch strip runs about 225 and up.

check out ho t5 set ups or ahsupply.com cf set ups. shop lights do take up a lot of space they are not as efficient as the others.

I saw some t5 coralife fixtures that were SUPER small profile! They looked amazing on the tank!

This is the most interesting/cheap light I have found. I am just about to pull the trigger. This will be for a 125 gallon high light CO2 planted tank: http://www.fishneedit.com/t5ho-6ft--8lamps-light568.html

T5 run really cool as is, so its not really needed especially being lifted a couple of inches above the tank.

I buy my T8 bulbs from home depot or lowes.

ok last question does anyone know where I can get a reflector? I wanna try building a top with a light for my 30g like the one on ahsupply.com. Thanks again tons of great info, now I just cant make up my mind either http://www.fishneedit.com/t5ho-6ft--8lamps-light568.html like brentling suggested or a build it yourself from ahsupply.com I just always like to make sure i get the right thing the first time. :)
thanks again

The AHsupply kits come with a reflector, which is one of their strongest selling points, as it is a really good unit.

I can show you my old insurance claim form where it caught on fire and just 2500$ in damage to my house. Odessye is the old jebo company. They changed the name to escape lawsuits a while back.
