I've had the same 6 cories for about 6 months and they were in a 55 gallon. But last week I switched out the sand that was in the 55 gallon back to gravel, so I took the cories out and put 2 in each of my 10 gallons that have sand. The next morning, the pair in 1 tank had eggs and they "hatched" on Tuesday. So I looked at the other pairs and found that I had 2 females in one tank, and a male and female in the other. So I moved the corys around so that I had 2 females and a male in 2 tanks. This morning, I have eggs again! My cory fry from Tuesday are 3 days old, they are albino so easy to see against the black sand, but still really tiny. But you can tell they are corys because they swim like them. Somehow 2 other fry made it into my filter even though I have a sponge on the intake, so I think I'll find a media bag and put that over the intake instead. I'll try and get pic's of the little guys today.

Good luck with your fry. Mine did not make it, but they lay more eggs just about every day! They are busy little buggers.

I had to take the female that wasn't spawning out because as soon as eggs were left on the glass, she'd come along and eat them. That isn't very nice of her! :)

i had a tank set up with cories, bn plecos, and angels. those got moved to a bigger tank and then i had a couple of oscars in there. about 2 months after the switch i cleaned the filters and found 3 half-inch cory fry that had been living in the filter the whole time. two of them were actually pretty fat from living in the back of the filter. . . but one had been surviving in the INTAKE TUBE fighting the current his whole life. that one died, but i think it was only because as soon as i moved them all to the "safer" tank, one of the angels came out of nowhere and bit his little eye right out.

Well done, T'mom. So, just sand and filter....no plants? They lay their eggs on the glass? Is this always the case?

Congrats! I had so much fun with my baby albino cories. I haven't saved any eggs from being brunched on in a while, might be time to save a few again just for fun! Pics, pics, pics!!!

my albino cory's lay their eggs on the glass too, but they all get eaten by other fish before they hatch. I did however find that my two bronze corys had babies and one of them has made it, I was so proud! :)

Moving the one egg-eating female into the tank with 3 other corys did something because now in that tank someone is laying eggs! Now I just have to watch and see which female is laying the eggs and move the other 2 into the snowball tank. It seems that moving them into a new tank is causing them to breed.

Cory fry are so cute. I've only ever had 1 survive. My female krib follows the cories around and sucks up the eggs as soon as they're laid.

They like to lay eggs everywhere.. including on the resident mystery snail:
