Just ordered some driftwood from here:

http://www.chichesterinc.com/Driftwood.htm

Looks really nice, and the prices seem very decent. I should have it in hand within about 4 days. I will update everyone on how it looks :)

That is some good looking driftwood. The prices seem very reasonable also. From the pics they look all original in their own way.

Keep us posted.

That is good driftwood, and you won't need to weight it down as it's already heavy enough. I have a chunk of it -- but thought it was called "Mopani" or "Wellaby" wood...

If you look around that website you will see they also offer Grizzly Bear rugs between $10,000 and $15,000....

makes me wonder how much of that stuff is legally ok and all.. I am sure that there are legal ways of obtaining all of those things but makes me wonder though

it looks good but I can get it for 2/3rds of that price at a LFS.

Don't even consider putting it in your tank without boiling it first. Trust me. Leaks tanins like no other.

If you can get it at 2/3rds of that price, will you ship? :)

Got the driftwood today...it is very nice :). I washed it well and let it soak the entire day in a 55 gallon tub. I am still cycling the tank, but went ahead and put it in just to see how it would look.

I think I got just the right amount. It fills the 125 gallon very nicely. I have a shipment of amazon swords coming in late this week that should finish the look of the tank :)

That driftwood looks great!!!!!!!!!!! The white sand really sets it off good. I can't wait to see it after you add the swords. You never will find nothing that nice in J'ville.

You are right about not finding any like it in Jacksonville. You can find plenty of driftwood at the beaches, but it is all that dull gray colored stuff. I am definately liking the looks of this wood :)

Got the plants added to the tank today. They obviously need to grow in a bit, but the tank is coming together. Next step is to finish cycling and then get some fish :)

As you can see from the picture, the driftwood has colored the water a bit. Personally, I like the effect! I normally won't be letting the water get quite so dark however as this tank will be getting at least two water changes a week. Obviously, during this fishless cycle there hasn't been a water change....

I just realized the driftwood looks like an elephant a seal and a dragon or alligators head (i cant decide..) nice variety of animals

I guess I just don't see the animals, but I also can't see shapes in the clouds either :)

As for fish, the first ones will be corys and cardinals. After the tank has settled in, discus will be added.

I wish I would have ran into you before I left. I had 6 that I would have given to for next to nothing. I couldn't find them a good home so I ended up trading them into Aqua Zoo. Them gave me a good deal, but I would have prefered to give them to a good home.

Those pieces look awesome and you did a great job of placing them!! Can you tell me what you paid for them? Or if you would rather not, can you tell me what size each piece is considered?? And you said that was a 125 gallon right?? I need some for a 55 gallon and also my 75 gallon.

Thanks,
Bill C.

Here's the tank finally starting to fill out really well. All the plants are thriving. The swords have propogated a couple of times as well...

Seems like a longer tank than my 125 gallon... maybe not...

It's a 125...

Now that everything has broken in well I am going to start looking for some discus to put in the tank. You don't realize it, but your 80 was my inspiration to make this tank :)

Oh...and as you can see from the older pic -vs- new pic, I don't have the wet dry on it any more...I decided to do C02 injection and the wet dry wasn't helping matters...

Awesome looking tank Matt! Now that the plants are starting to fill in everything looks great. I like the amazon look.

Not sure if you like vallisneria species or not but I think they would look very good in the back right corner. They are a tall grassy plant and I think they help to make a tank look more natural. Your call. Vals are found all over the world too as far as I know.

I have been looking for something to fill out that area, I will see if I can find some locally here...thanks!

No problem. Your tank looks like its in great shape.

Looks like you have a pretty deep substrate over there, which is good cause vals are heavy root feeders. They will look the deep sand and would probably benefit from a gravel fert tab but don't need it. Vals are a tough plant.

Be sure to keep us updated with some pics when you add discus or other fish!
