Does anyone have any advice on what kind of Ram pair (Bolivian, German Blue, Yellow?) I should add to my 55 gallon community tank that already has the following stock:

- 25 neon tetras
- 8 ottos
- 6 peppered cories
- 2 cherry barbs
- 3 mystery snails

It is a medium planted tank with good filtration (600gph). Has anyone had good experience with any kind of these rams in a community setting?

i myself am a HUGE blue ram fan. there not very hardy though, parametres must be kept pristine for them to live. i have a pair in my 30 gallon community. i try to keep pH at 6.8 to 7.2 for them. if you can do this a pair would be beatiful in your tank im sure! if you cant go with the bolivians(much more hardy)

I have Bolivian Rams in with corys, angels, and tetras. They are much hardier and more forgiving than the Blue or Gold Rams. They have great personality! Should be good with the combo you have. You probably could even do 4.

Thanks for the advice.........I was thinking about going with the BR's due to the fact that I have really hard water and a ph of 7.6. I really like the Yellow and the Blue Rams but I have heard that they are harder to keep than the Bolivian variety. Any issues with aggression? Or are they really as sweet as people say;-)

wow, you think I could do 4 of them? Here I thought I was already a little heavy when it came to the stock........really?

I am thinking about putting my barbs in my 25 and adding a couple more females because the male is fairly aggressive (constantly protecting his rock). he always keeps the neons, cories, and ottos on the other 3/4 of the tank (drives me nuts). I would rather get 4 of the bolivian rams because they could then be my centerpiece fish. Anyone else think I could safely add 4 of these guys to my tank? (that would be awesome!)

they don't hurt the other fish with their mouths. if you have ever seen a ram attack they butt the intruder as in head butt.

they can stun fish with this attack.
your tank is more suited to bolivian Rams.

blues prefer much warmer water.. where the Bolivian in fine in temps upper 70 range(76-78) a 55 will have enough room for 2 pair. with the proper structures in place(think line of sight blocking) the rams do like heavy cover including driftwood and plants.
