FISH SWIMMING WIERD

ONE OF MY CICHLIDS IS ACTING REALLY FUNNY. EVERY TIME I LOOK AT IT IS SWIMMING VERTICAL. THE TAIL IS HIGH AND THE HEAD IS LOW. AND TODAY I SEEN IT SWIMMING SIDEWAYS. THE BELLY WAS TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE TANK AND IT SWAM LENGHTWISE OF THE TANK SIDEWAYS. IT SEEMS WHEN IT STOPS SWIMMING ITS TAIL FLOATS TO THE TOP AND ITS HEAD STAYS WHERE ITS AT. THIS MIGHT BE NORMAL IDK. THE FISH HAS BEEN IN MY TANK FOR 3 YEARS, AND I NEVER SEEN IT ACT LIKE THIS. ALSO I'VE GOTTEN A BUNCH OF BABIES OVER THE YEARS. SO IM THINKING THIS MIIGHT BE THE MOM AND MAYBE ITS PREGNANT AGAIN. IDK, HELP PLEASE.

Water parameters? Tank size? Tank inhabitants?
 
Yes check ammonia, nitrite and nitrates with a good liquid drop test kit.

What size tank is it and what tankmates ?

Anything new in the tank ?

That position in the water as per the pics looks entirely normal to me.
 
ok checked parematers everything is 0. tank is 55 gallon. tankmates are 1 pleco about 10 inch's. 1 blue 1 yellow chichlid original fish purchased with the bumblebee. then about 10 offspring ranging from 1 inch to 4 inch's.
 
ill try to get a picture of bumblebee swimming wierd so you can help me. it wasn't swimming like that when i took the pics. and that blue fish in the background is one of the offspring.
 
What did you test with (type of test - liquid drop/paper strip) ? Are nitrates 0 ?
 
I TESTED WITH API LIQUID DROP TEST KIT. AMMONIA WAS 0, NITRATES WAS 0, NITRITES WAS 0.
 
nitrates 0??

is unusual in a tank unless heavily planted
 
well thats what it said. its been set up for 3 years. i do water changes weekly.

Otherwise what star_rider said.

Check the lot number of your test kit last four digits are mm/yy the test is good for 3 years from that date. Make sure you're following the instructions correctly. You don't get 0 nitrates in a cycled tank unless lightly stocked and heavily planted.

How is the fish at this stage ?
