I have not used a heater in about 5 years. Never had any fish problems, actually it seems that my fish will not die, I been stuck with the same group of fish since the day I started keeping fish (6 years ago)..

Now I'm getting into planted tanks.
My temp never has gone below 73*f and max is about 79*f
Seasonal temperatures.

Would my plants do and better if I used a heater to keep my water at a constant 78*f or would I see no difference at all?

IME, anacharis is the only plant I've kept that grows better in an outdoor pond at 60* than in a heated aquarium at 78*.

I just read this in my Aquarium by Design book
I was thinking about getting a heater to help my plants, and my fish might like a warmer temp also.

Interesting. I too have not used a heater in a long time. Living in VA I find that the room I keep my 75g is stable and the aquarium stays around 72-78 degrees and my plants are growing great.
