Each bulb is 24 watts so im thinking the light will work for both tanks.I really want to get this started so any help at all.Like i said im completely clueless to everything saltwater:confused:.Thanks

I have that light and the answer is yes, you could use that light over your planted FW and if it hangs over the side, you could have it also light up the 7G "nano" (I wonder, at what point does an aquarium become "Pico" size? 5G?). The biggest problem you will face with a 7G tank is water quality, evaporation, things like that on the saltwater tank that small.

I have a 7G bow front that we have had up and running for 5 years. I would go with live rock and sand to help with the filtration. We have a simple over the back filter I think that it's a Penguin 175. We have upgraded the lights that came with it to a compact fluorescent 32 watt 50/50 bulb. I do have a nano protein slimmer that I haven't put on yet. We solve the evaporation issue by putting an auto top off on it. It is hooked up to a gallon jug of RO water. We have a few zoos and mushrooms seem to really do well. tank inhabitants are a coral banded shrimp (we had a mated pair for 2 1/2 years but the female seems to have disappeared), blue legged hermit crabs, astraea snails, and a False Percula, Ocellaris Clownfish .

At work right now we have a section that has two regular bulbs (white, t-5), the next is one white and one blue actinic, and the last section is two actinic bulbs. You can see the difference. Everything looks so much better in the one that has a white and a actinic bulb in it. The one with two actinic is too blue and it actually hurts your eyes to look at it. I really have to fix it. It is not suppose to look like that but when the guy came in to replace the ballast he put two actinics in.
