Hey i have a salvini cichlid and he's a weird blackish color and never comes out and always hides... the water is fine and he is the only one in his tank right now.... he's like three inches long. Why?

Could you give more info? What are the exact water parameters....ammonia, nitrite, nitrate? What size tank? What is your water change schedule? How long have you had the fish?
I agree, more info is needed. You might have to get a few dithers to help draw him/her out of hiding.
My Salvini hid a lot when I first got him. Now that he's in a bigger tank with other cichlids he's out quite a bit.
maybe your 20 long, black substrate, lack of cleaning, and isolation are playing against you on this one lopez
