View Full Version : Are CO2 Regulators Universal?

While on my latest Lowe's trip I saw that they were selling 20oz. CO2 bottles. I currently run DIY CO2 in my 5.5gal and was curious if a small CO2 bottle would be worth the trouble and $? Any opinions?
check ebay and you will find 24oz bottle for way cheaper probably than what lowes is asking. Or check craigslist, plenty of paintball users are selling their tanks all the time. Now also i think either drfoster/thatfishplace or one of those sites is now selling small regulator for paintball tanks (forgot price but it was around $20-30)
Would be good for a tank that small.
If you use a 24oz Paintball tank, buy a normal reg, so it can used with other tanks if you ever upgrade to a larger tank.
But to make a normal regulator work on PB tanks, grab a smartparts on/off: http://www.sakworldpaintball.com/inonval.html ,it allows those small tanks to function like a normal cylinder.

In case of an over-pressurized cylinder, either from being over-filled or getting to hot etc., it allows the cylinder to quickly release pressure before the tank ruptures. All cylinders already have burst disks, so you dont need to purchase one unless they've already been destroyed.
