Update of Jack Dempsey fry!!

Hello again,

here are the parents with the fry only a few days later!! The babies are starting to swin everywhere. My demp. colors change depending on what mood they are in. ( the daddy up front ( brown), and the mommy is in the back of the pic). I measured her and the male today to get an appr. size, and the male is 4.5", and the female is pushing 3.5". Anyone wanna guess on how many babies they had? I vote about 300. ( look near the gravel, their is ALOT more). What do I do with this many babies? I def. want to raise as many as I can, but what is a good size to start selling them and finding them new homes? Thanks.

I'd be interested in knowing that too. The platys in my Kiddie Pool are forever having babies but thankfully they are nothing more than a tasty, fresh lunch for the rest of the tank. I wouldn't really know what to do with fry from protective parents.

For your sake though I hope you can sell enough to buy new gravel. ;)

Well you can feed some of the fry to your other fish (if you have any). Not all will make it either. The parents will definitely pick off a few stragglers. When I bred JD I sold the offspring when they were between 1-2 inches. The bigger and more colorful the better.

awwwwwwwww so pretty!!! man thats a lot of babies! I say give them away when there small, half an inch or less.
