I have a small ten gallon tank that I thought was my more peaceful tank until about a month ago. I used to have six fair sized Neon tetras in the tank with a pleco, five zebra danios and a red dwarf gourami. And everything was fine for a couple of months. I then added a blue and red (I can't remember what it is called) dwarf gourami and three orange platys to the tank. Within a week, the red dwarf gourami died and the neons disappeared. There was nothing left of them ! I clean the tank with a gravel vacuum and there weren't any remnants of the little guys.
My wife really liked the neons but is there any way that I can put them back in the tank? The local pet store said that the pleco prbably ate the neons but they lived peacefully together for atleast six months before this happened.
I feed them tropical fish flakes and slightly overfeed them so the pleco eats the food of the bottom.

Male dwarf gouramies can be kind of aggressive, especially toward other males so that may done something. Also, that tank is overstocked for sure. I would think that just the 6 neons, 5 zebra danios and the pleco would pretty much fill it.

Whoa, did I read this right? u have all those fish in a 10 gallon aquarium? Thats the problem, check ammonia, I bet you have acquired a ammonia spike, due to fish overload.
I hope this helps, and please get rid of some of those fish, I have included a good stock list below...
u could keep
probably and be safe about 5 of the neons, 3 of the zebra danios and 3 corydoras, seeing that studies prove odd schools are much better than even schools, The pleco has to go END OF STORY! I dont know much about the gourami's since I have never kept any :D
PLease more input from experts on this problem, I want to see how off I am :D
Also, IF your ammonia is 0, check around the tank, smell around and search... You may find a karkas or two ;)
Again... I hope this helps.
