I asked for olive nerite snails but apparently i dont think they are. The fish store lady said they dont breed often. After a few weeks my tank is infested with snail eggs and hundreds of tiny snails. Some of even formed swirly cone shaped shells. They do eat the algae very well though but i was just wondering what these are called and how do i control them. I have little white specs all over the tank.

Swirly coned snails are Malaysian trumpet snails.

Did you buy any new plants? It's possible that while you might have purchased some nerite snails (a photo would tell us for sure), you might have gotton some common pond snails as a "bonus" with your plants.

I agree. the white eggs (like pretzel salt) sound like nerite eggs. But they do not develop from larvael stage in a fw tank. Sounds like you may have some hitchhikers as well.

Definitely not olives.. they may have sold you olive pit snails (P. acuta)?

I'd say you definitely got some other snail.... other than O.N.
